Baron Extension With W's Was Vetoed?

Multiple league sources have confirmed to Tim Kawakami that leading up to the Baron Davis opt-out deadline, Davis and Warriors' chief Chris Mullin reached a tentative agreement, in which Davis would “opt-in” on his $17.8M for this season, then land a three-year, $39M extension ($13M per).

All money included would have paid Davis $56.8M over four seasons through the 2011-12 season.

But for the offer to become official, it had to be approved by Team President Robert Rowell, and he reportedly vetoed it.

Biedrins' Role Continues To Grow With Warriors

Center Andris Biedrins has seen his role grow each season with the Warriors.

Warriors coach Don Nelson named guard Stephen Jackson and Biedrins team captains on Saturday.

The 22-year-old, whom Nelson first gave captaincy to at the end of last season, takes over full-time after signing a huge six-year contract extension this summer.

"I needed to be a leader on that team, and I was playing a lot of offense and trying a lot of new things," Biedrins said. "So I gained confidence on the offensive end and I think it will help."
